Charity Bingo at Gjoa Oil & Gas platform.
Today we had a great Charity Bingo here at the platform were I work in the North Sea.
We are going to have a Bingo like this for Ullpledd.com for all 3 shifts and the company we work for will also participate.
It was great to see so many take part, and the money will be very good for our little organisation.
Most of the money from this will go to get a Nurse Education for Kumari, who is a local village girl from Mukli.
We have already donated enough money for her first year, so she has now started her education in Kathmandu.
Thanks to everyone at Gjoa, and offcourse the rest that have helped us via FB announcement.
Merry Christmas All !

Best Regards
Atle

Status of the Schoolproject in Mukli

Dear friends.

Thank you for all your support of our work to help the children of Mukli.

The work to rebuild the two schools has started, and we have also now finally achived some support and help from Goverment of Nepal.

We dont have all the money needed and we still want you to send your extra clothes and blankets to our contact in Kathmandu !

"Little is better than nothing......."

As you can see on the photos the project is now getting forward.

The goverment money and help also from others makes it possible.

We will for Christmas make another few Charity Evenings here at tha Gjoa platform in Norway.

Instead of Christmas gifts to the personell onbord, we have decided to share the money with the children of Mukli in Nepal.

Hopefully we will be abel to finish the work at the schools.

Merry Christmas All !

@tle

Schoolproject Mukli.

"I have a project I'm passionate about, a small village called Mukli in Nepal. The children's school was hit hard by the earthquakes last spring. There are no other charities or aid work in the area due to its remote location. We spent about 14 hours by Jeep from Kathmandu, then 6 hours of walking before we arrived in Mukli. The logistics will therefore be our greatest challenge in the project of rebuilding their school," says Atle hovstad.

Gjøa personnel decided in December that they wanted to implement charity bingo and fundraising on all shifts. The first was held on January 16 and raised NOK 12000,-.

"I work together with my friends who are born and raised in the village, and now live in Kathmandu. It is all voluntary work and all contributions will go directly to the project. My hope is that we will manage to give the children their school back - this is their vital nerve".

Atle visited Mukli last October and got to see the damages of the earthquakes, and the impact of the people. Despite the difficult situation, he met people filled with smiles, courage and hope. At the charity bingo at Gjøa he held a presentation telling about the area, the project, showed pictures and told about his experience from his last trip in regards to the charity bingo offshore (see link to the right).

"My plan is to start rebuilding the school in Mukli after the rainy season this year, probably in October", says Atle Hovstad.

Everyone who participates in the charity bingo or donates money is included in the draw of the photograph mounted on canvas.

A Presentation of the project in Muklican be downloaded here: Presentasjon av Mukli Skoleprosjekt.
